Michael Hernandez is an award-winning teacher who founded the Media Arts program in 1999. He earned his MFA in film production from Loyola Marymount University and his BA in Communication from Santa Clara University.
Mr. Hernandez strives to empower his students to create meaningful work that has a positive affect on the world. He is passionate about leveraging technology to amplify teaching and learning, and cares deeply about social justice practices and processes.
Mr. Hernandez is an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google For Education Certified Innovator and PBS Lead Digital Innovator. He is a contributing editor to wwwjeadigitalmedia.org, a website for scholastic journalism and the first JEA National Broadcast Adviser of the Year. He speaks regularly at regional and national conferences about broadcast journalism, film, photography and technology in education.
