Film & Video classes prepare students for a future in cinematic arts, including film school and work in the entertainment industry. Emphasis is placed on developing a personal voice and vision, and creating work that explores film and video as a unique art form.
Students work in groups to create a variety of projects including short films, documentaries, music videos, PSAs, experimental and video installations. Film history and criticism are also integrated into the curriculum.
All courses satisfy the UC/CSU Visual Art requirement.
Cinematic Arts 1
An introduction to film-style production, etiquette and criticism. Projects include PSA, Music Videos, and a short narrative. All aspects of filmmaking are covered including cinematography, editing, sound design, screenwriting and directing.
Cinematic Arts 2
Intermediate production class emphasizing advanced cinematography and directing.
Cinematic Arts 3
Advanced course work focused on writing, directing and producing.
Advanced Cinematic Arts
Advanced course work focused on writing, directing and producing. This course explores international cinema and historical cinematic movements. This final course is for seniors who have completed 3 years of Video Production classes.
